When one person was talking, we first edited the scene to have the camera be on the person who was speaking, then we edited it a different way and had one part of the scene be focused on one specific person even while the other was talking. This is called giving one person power in the scene, essentially hinting to the audience that they are the more important person in the scene and in the movie.
